For our very first staff spotlight, we couldn’t think of a more fitting honoree than the incredible Einer Gomez—our devoted General Manager and one of the longest-serving members of the Ramon’s Village family! With 31 years of unwavering dedication, Einer has been the heart and soul of our daily operations, ensuring every guest experiences the magic of our island paradise.
Born and raised on the stunning Ambergris Caye, Einer’s journey is deeply intertwined with the island’s vibrant tourism industry. After completing his studies at Belize Technical College, his love for hospitality led him back home, where he first worked at the legendary Holiday Hotel—one of San Pedro’s very first hotels. But it wasn’t long before fate (and a good friend’s recommendation) brought him to Ramon’s Village at the age of 29, stepping in as Assistant Manager under Ramon Nunez himself.
In a twist of serendipity, Einer had known Ramon long before joining the team—having grown up just three houses away! His deep-rooted connection to the resort, the staff, and the island made his transition seamless. It didn’t take long for our Vice President of Operations, Steve Sherwin, to recognize Einer’s exceptional leadership, and the rest is history.
Einer has witnessed the incredible transformation of San Pedro and Ambergris Caye over the years. As a child, he remembers a quiet island with just about 1,000 residents, where restaurants and hotels were scarce. Today, the island buzzes with life, home to nearly 20,000 people and an ever-expanding array of restaurants, shops, and attractions. Yet, despite the growth, Einer insists, “the island still retains its uniqueness and enchantment.”
At Ramon’s Village, where he began working in 1994, change has been just as remarkable. What once had only 61 rooms has flourished with the addition of Steve and Becky’s, a spa, and an upgraded dive shop. “When I started, we had just four boats—now, we have 14 and counting,” Einer marvels. But despite its expansion, Ramon’s has never lost its charm.
What sets Ramon’s apart, he believes, is its rare blend of nature and island hospitality. “It’s the only resort in town with a lush jungle right on the beach,” he says. “It’s truly an oasis in the heart of San Pedro.”
Today, Einer not only continues to lead with passion and expertise but also shares his Ramon’s Village journey with his wife, Mari, who happens to be Ramon’s wife’s niece and serves as our Head of Housekeeping. Together, they’re a powerhouse duo dedicated to making every guest feel at home. Einer says his favorite part about working at Ramon’s is “interacting with guests, meeting their expectations, the exceptional staff, and the repeat customers who become friends.”
We’re beyond grateful for Einer’s decades of service, wisdom, and commitment to making Ramon’s Village the extraordinary resort it is today. If you see him around, be sure to say hello—he’s always happy to share a story or two about the island he calls home!
Einer’s Favorites!
Favorite menu item: “I would choose the steak-on-a-stone. It is delightful and a one-of-a-kind menu item. No other restaurant on the island has this on their menu.”
Favorite Excursion: “The Sunset Sailing Cruise is my favorite. It is relaxing and romantic, and the scenery is one-of-a-kind. You get to watch the sunset and the island just lights up at night. It is beautiful.”
Favorite Tropic Al’s drink: “I don’t have a preference. I just tell the staff to make me a love drink, and they make me a drink based on my mood that day. Everything is always delicious.”
